Green is the New Black

We all have a responsibility to use our natural resources as efficiently as possible. For over 70 years Luxaflex® has pioneered sustainability through the innovative design of our window treatments to manage light & heat and conserve energy for improved home comfort.

As we are becoming increasingly aware of the impact our everyday life has on our environment, the need for sustainability is ever-rising. We are now making more conscious choices towards energy, food, and our environment than ever before, but how else can we reduce our impact and maximize our home efficiency? It's never been easier to get your hands on eco-friendly home furnishings. Sustainability was at the forefront of Irish design last year and it has no sign of going anywhere anytime soon.

Energy Efficiency at the Window

Heating and light are the two most significant factors we can control in our homes. Not only do both necessities negatively impact our environment, but they also negatively impact our wallets!

Did you know without energy-efficient window treatments up to 50% of your home's heating is lost through windows? (Even double-glazed windows). Duette® Shades are attractive and clever, working hand in hand with nature. In colder months air is trapped in their distinctive honeycomb cells which acts as an insulator helping you to save on heating costs. In the summertime, Duette® Shades reduce heat absorption by up to 78%. If that wasn't enough, these shades also block up to 99% of UV rays and improve interior acoustics by up to 45%. It's fair to say they are a firm favorite of ours! Discover more here.

Fabric Fanatics

Sea-Tex® Roller blind fabric is made from 50% recovered ocean plastic - a first of its kind. Plastic is recovered from beaches and shorelines worldwide and spun into Bionic yarn which is woven into the fabric. Not only is this environmentally friendly, but Sea-Tex® also provides privacy, maintains your view, reduces glare, and protects against up to 99% of UV rays. This stylish Roller blind fabric is available in 4 beautiful colours.

Sustainability was a key factor in the production of our Duette® collection, using raw materials and reused fabrics whenever possible. The bamboo fabric range is made from 25% natural bamboo fibers. Where do we start with our love for bamboo? Bamboo is a sustainable crop (part of the grass family) that grows quickly without the need for harmful fertiliser or much water, this plant also self regenerates so it doesn't need to be replanted. Our Eternity fabrics are made with 40% recycled polyester helping to limit the amount of waste ending up in landfills.

At Luxaflex® most of our designs are inspired by the beauty of nature. This Earth Day, and every day we strive to celebrate yet protect our environment.
